Our family found setting up our own contract very helpful. I recommend you have a positive incentive. For example, if you completed all your assigned work on time without complaint for the entire week or month, you could be treated to: a visit to the ice cream truck; a prize from the prize box; or one $2.99 movie night. Though not stated in our contracts, it is just a reward verbally granted from time to time.
Is your child motivated by positive
or negative reinforcement? Use what works the best
for each student. Draw up a different contract for
each student. We take one consequence away at a time
so that our students have an incentive to keep
working for the week. Only once did I have to
exercise room restriction with homework!
